Prishtinë, 26th of May 2017

On 25.05.2017 Kosovo Police, respectively the Investigation Section of Border Police Department assisted by other relevant police units, in cooperation with Kosovo Customs and Health inspectorate, referring the Court’s order, have conducted a police raid operation into three regions of the Republic of Kosovo. The operation was conducted in the region of Prishtina, Ferizaj and Gjilan, including eighteen (18) various locations. 

As a result of this operation, as suspects there were arrested five persons;

• A.M.  (m)

• E.R.    (m)

• S.I.     (f)

• D.A.  (m) and 

• A.A.  (m)

These persons are suspected that in an organized way and in cooperation, have smuggled various medicaments thus damaging the Kosovo budget and risking the citizen’s health, committing the criminal offences “Smuggling with goods”, avoidance from payment of mandatory customs tariffs” and “Illegal exercise of medical and pharmaceutical activity.

During the raid, there was found a considerable amount of uncontrolled and unverified medications mainly originated from Serbia, which are alleged to be smuggled illegally to the Republic of Kosovo.

Two of the arrested persons are employees in the health Institution and they are suspected to have committed the criminal offence “Abuse of official duty”.

Kosovo Police in cooperation with other institutions remains committed to combat all the criminal offences and to create a safer environment for our citizens.
