On 07.08.2025, Kosovo Police, respectively the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption (DHKEK) – Pristina, managed to obtain information/evidence that two male suspects, citizens of Albania, were supplied with fuel at a fuel station, and made a payment in the amount of 50 (fifty) euros, which were in 10 (ten) euro banknotes.
After receiving the payment, it was noticed that 4 (four) of the banknotes offered were counterfeit.
Regarding the case, quick and efficient information was provided by officers of the Road Traffic Support Unit, information that helped in the coordination of relevant police units, where as a result the suspects were detained and arrested at the Border Point with Albania, in Vërmicë – Prizren.
During the search of the suspects’ vehicle, another 780 (seven hundred and eighty) euros (all banknotes suspected of being counterfeit) were also found.
The above-mentioned suspects were interviewed as suspects in the presence of defence lawyers and after consultation with the prosecutor of the case, one of the suspects who committed the crime of Counterfeiting Money was sent to detention for 48 hours, while the other suspect, by verbal order from the prosecutor, was released in regular procedure.
