Kosovo Police, Border Police Regional Directorate – East, in implementation of measures to prevent and combat illegality and smuggling, intensified tactical and operational controls in the field.

On 05.07.2023 at around 22:00, a BMW vehicle with local license plates was identified on the Stançiq-Gjilan road, for which the units of the Task Force-BRD-East had information that it was engaged in smuggling goods from the Republic of North Macedonia to the Republic of Kosovo.

The aforementioned vehicle was managed to be stopped at the entrance to Gjilan and during the check in the back seats and in the luggage of the vehicle, there were loaded (25) bags of processed tobacco weighing about 250 kg and for which goods he did not possess any document on the origin, therefore it is suspected for smuggling.

Regarding the case, all actions were undertaken in cooperation with the State Prosecutor’s Office, where by order of the competent prosecutor, the goods are sent to the customs terminal for further procedures.
