The Kosovo Police, specifically the Regional Unit for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption in Pristina, has conducted an investigation regarding suspicions of “abuse of official position” in the procedures of public tenders.
During the investigations, evidence and information secured made possible to raise suspicions that a public official has assisted economic operators in being declared winners in certain tenders by unlawfully adjusting the criteria set by the contracting authorities. The total value of the tenders exceeds 8.8 million euros.
The investigative actions were carried out in continuous collaboration with the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo, including the gathering of evidence and other investigative measures, such as the seizure of communication devices.
The suspect was interviewed and, by order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, has been placed in custody for 48 hours, while two other suspects have been released through regular procedures.
The case continues to be investigated, and the Kosovo Police, in collaboration with the justice authorities, will take further actions.
